SAP announces that Heineken, one of the world’s largest beer producers, has implemented “Hoppy” – an internal AI-powered chatbot developed on the SAP Business Technology Platform. Supported by SAP Datasphere and Business AI capabilities, the solution provides real-time access to data, automates tasks, and significantly improves internal processes, fostering a more efficient, data-driven organizational culture.
Operating in over 70 countries with a global network of more than 165 breweries, Heineken set out to simplify data access so that employees can quickly search and analyze information in their preferred language. Hoppy, an AI-based chatbot built on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), directly addresses this need and represents a major step in Heineken’s commitment to streamlining internal operations and empowering teams through technology.
“Heineken’s decision to use SAP Business AI for its internal chatbot reflects an innovative approach to reimagining operational efficiency and employee empowerment. We are proud to see our technology enabling seamless internal communication and information flow for such an iconic global brand,” said Manos Raptopoulos, Chief Revenue Officer for APAC, EMEA, and MEE at SAP.
By leveraging advanced natural language processing with data from multiple systems, Hoppy eliminates time-consuming manual searches, allowing users to focus on more strategic, value-added tasks.
Through SAP Datasphere, Heineken now benefits from a unified data model that enhances access and scalability. Additionally, the generative AI hub functionality integrated with SAP BTP enables Hoppy to perform natural language queries, provide visualizations, and ensure more secure data access.
“Building and integrating agents is not always an easy journey. There’s still much to discover. But as we like to say in our team: ‘Don’t worry, be Hoppy!’” said Andre van Schuijlenburg, Global Process Management Director at Heineken.
Since Hoppy was deployed in platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Heineken has seen the time required by data specialists to extract information decrease from 15 minutes to just 1 minute. Powered by SAP Business AI, Heineken is also exploring automation of repetitive tasks to further improve business processes, communication, and decision-making. With a unified view of its data, Hoppy can now also flag missing cost center information in purchase orders, enhancing both accuracy and operational efficiency.
