Symphopay is strengthening its position as a payment orchestration solution for retail on the Romanian market, following the successful implementation carried out across more than 1,750 stores in the national Profi network. Previously, the company was selected to manage complex payment and settlement flows by retailers such as Annabella, Farmacia Tei, Bebe Tei, Intersport, eMAG, courier companies Sameday and FAN Courier, as well as shopping center owners such as NEPI Rockcastle.
In the context of a broad operational efficiency process, the Profi network needed an infrastructure capable of ensuring transaction processing continuity, including in situations of connectivity disruptions.
At the operational level, the challenge involved ensuring the stability of the payment system across all stores, delivering a fast and reliable payment experience for customers, integrating automatic payment reconciliation processes into back-end systems across all partner banks, and enabling rapid implementation in all locations.
Through the solution provided by Symphopay to Profi, full integration of all 1,750 stores nationwide was achieved in just six weeks, alongside the automation of internal payment reconciliation flows.
”Symphopay’s solution has been essential in ensuring business continuity across our growing network. Their robust infrastructure has provided us with the control we need over payment systems, allowing for uninterrupted service, optimized performance, and a seamless customer experience as we scale rapidly”, stated Andrei Bica, CFO, Profi Rom Food.
Through multi-bank payment orchestration, intelligent transaction routing, and plug-and-play infrastructure compatible with merchants’ systems, the company facilitates higher transaction approval rates, cost reduction through operational optimization, and full control over payments. All these benefits were made possible by the Symphopay payment orchestration solution, as well as by a unique technological innovation on the market that enables automatic switching of payment terminal connectivity, thereby ensuring uninterrupted transaction processing.
Each POS terminal benefits from dual connectivity, Ethernet and GSM, while the payment application monitors network status in real time. In the event of a disruption, the system automatically switches to the secondary connection, without transaction loss, without human intervention, and without impact on checkout operations. Transactions are secured and processed immediately once connectivity is restored, in a manner completely imperceptible to the customer. At the same time, the intelligent rerouting mechanism allows automatic switching between banks within milliseconds, optimizing approval rates and processing costs. This mechanism implemented by Symphopay at Profi sets a new standard for payments in Romanian retail.
“We designed the fallback mechanism so that payments continue to be processed even in the event of connectivity interruptions. The system monitors network status in real time and automatically switches to a secondary connection or another processor, without POS-level intervention and without impacting the checkout flow. Our objective was to provide retailers with control over infrastructure-related risks and ensure operational continuity without introducing additional processes for in-store staff,” stated Sebastian Ioniță, Co-founder & Managing Partner, Symphopay.
As a result of the implementation, Profi benefits from 100% payment uptime, including during peak periods with traffic exceeding 30 transactions per second, integration with multiple banks, automatic reconciliation, and a seamless payment experience for customers. A major achievement was the rapid rollout across all 1,750 units in the network within just six weeks, without operational disruption.
“Even though the implementation across the entire Profi network was completed in just six weeks, it was one of the most complex projects we have carried out at Symphopay, and also one of the most rewarding in terms of results. Following this implementation, Profi benefits from 100% payment uptime, processing capacity of approximately 30 transactions per second during peak periods across the entire network, integration with multiple banks, automatic reconciliation, and an uninterrupted payment experience for customers,” says Daniel Nicolescu, Co-founder & CEO Symphopay.
For the innovation brought to payment infrastructure at national level, the Symphopay ONE platform was awarded last week at the eFinance Gala with the – .
