METATOOLS Group, one of the largest “do it yourself” – DIY companies in Romania, strengthens its digitization process together with VTEX, the global enterprise digital commerce platform, after 25 years of activity in the local market. For the current year, an increase in turnover compared to the previous period is estimated, given the high demand for DIY tools and construction utensils, as well as due to the expansion into the online environment with a marketplace developed on the VTEX platform.

Metatools-090Founded in 1998, METATOOLS Group, a company with 100% Romanian capital, turned 25 this year on the market of technological equipment and machinery for construction, registering constant growth from year to year. The company has a strong presence in southern Romania, with showrooms and warehouses in Ploiesti, Pitesti, and Buzau. In 2022, the company reached around 18 million euros in turnover.

In the summer of this year, METATOOLS announced the launch of the new e-BricoShop marketplace, developed with VTEX’s composable and headless capabilities. At the moment, e-bricoshop.ro offers items from top international brands, such as DeWalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, Black+Decker, and Makita, continuing to expand the range of products available on its marketplace.

“The 25th anniversary represents a special moment in our company’s history. During this time, we went through many challenges that helped us evolve. We’ve weathered economic downturns, rapid technological change, and shifting customer preferences that have taught us that adaptability and innovation are critical to maintaining long-term success. Further, we are aware of the unpredictability of the market, but having with us the VTEX team of commerce specialists, who help us keep up with technological progress, we are ready to adapt to any needed changes”, declares Mircea Androne, co-founder of METATOOLS Group.

Company representatives expect an increase in demand for equipment and tools by the end of this year, especially for DIY or construction power tools, and in the cold season for products such as snow removal and heating tools and equipment.

“In today’s digital age, a well-developed marketplace is not just a space for commercial transactions but a dynamic community that thrives on its interactions. We are honored to have this partnership with METATOOLS through which we have the opportunity to connect brands, merchants, and consumers to drive innovation and create an engaging shopping experience,” says Prakash Gurumoorthy, general manager EMEA & APAC at VTEX.

On the new e-bricoshop.ro marketplace, the retailer aims to attract and keep sellers who can offer customers an excellent buying experience, thus contributing to the continuous development of the site. This involves attracting brands from various categories and fields, such as home, garden, or DIY products.

The DIY segment has grown significantly, especially during the pandemic, attracting consumers who appreciate personalized and creative solutions for decorating homes, gardens, and various other projects. On top of that, the global DIY home improvement instruments market is also expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.8% during 2023-2030. In this context, local entrepreneurs are seizing the opportunity and offering a diverse range of DIY products, tools, and services. The e-Bricoshop marketplace offers a favorable environment for developing their business and creating lasting partnerships.

The company will run a Black Friday campaign with a series of discounts and special offers for customers on products from a wide range of categories in November. Thus, on Black Friday, METATOOLS expects an increased volume of orders for which it has prepared its operations logistically and technologically to meet the increased demand.
